Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the death of an inmate at the County Jail last weekend.
In a press release, Deputies said a routine head count was underway at the Jail Saturday afternoon at 2:24 p.m. when they noticed an inmate identified as Keith Hudgeons, 34, hanging from a bed sheet in his cell. Life-saving measures were started immediately and EMS was notified. Hudgeons was transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange where he was pronounced dead.
Hudgeons was in jail on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and giving a false name.
The Sheriff’s Department has turned the investigation into Hudgeons’ death over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
