Manchester High Blue Devils Drop Two Games to the Mt. Zion Eagles

The Manchester High Blue Devil baseball team fell to 1-13-1 overall and 0-5 in region play after dropping two games to the Mt. Zion Eagles last week.
Mt. Zion 17 – MHS 1
On Tuesday, Mar. 25, the Blue Devils traveled to Mt. Zion to play the Eagles and wre defeated by a score of 17-1.
The Blue Devils drew first blood in the game and scored the team’s lone run in the top of the first inning.
The Eagles fired back with eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Blue Devils didn’t score in the top of the second but the Eagles added nine runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 17-1 lead.
The Blue Devils were unable to score in the top of the third and the game came to an end with the Eagles earning a 17-1 win.
Manchester used four pitchers in the game. Sophomore Landon Kee pitched one-third of an inning, sophomore Jackson Howard pitched two-thirds of an inning, senior Christian Whitaker pitched one-third of an inning and sophomore Jarrell Garrett pitched two-thirds of an inning.
Howard faced nine batters and allowed four runs off two hits; Whitaker faced 10 batters and allowed eight runs (five earned) off four hits and issued two walks and Garrett faced eight batter and allowed five runs (two earned) off one hit and issued one walk.
Senior Kaleb Gay was one for two at the plate with the lone hit for the Blue Devils, scored run and had a stolen base.

Mt. Zion 16 – MHS 0
On Thursday, Mar. 27 the Blue Devils hosted the Mt. Zion Eagles and were defeated by a score of 16-0.
The Eagles took control early scoring six runs in the top of the first, five in the second and five in the third to earn the win.
Sophomore Gavin Garrett pitched one and a third innings in the game and allowed 11 runs off three hits, issued five walk and recorded one strikeout while facing 17 batters.
Sophomore Jayden Hodo pitched one and two-thirds innings and allowed five runs (three earned) off three hits, issued two walks and faced 12 batters.
Sophomore Landon Kee was 1 for 2 at the plate for Manchester and junior Patrick Holmes was 1 for 1.

Upcoming Games
On Tuesday, Mar. 25, the Blue Devils traveled to Mt. Zion to play the Eagles, a region opponent, but results from the game was not available at press time.
On Thursday, Mar. 27 the Blue Devils will host the Mt. Zion Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
After the Mar. 27 game, the Blue Devils will not play again until Apr. 10.
