A Coweta County Commissioner has been hired as the new Deputy Meriwether County Administrator.
Jeffrey Fisher, who currently serves as District 1 Commissioner for Coweta County, was introduced to the Meriwether County Commission at the April 28 meeting as the new Deputy County Administrator. Fisher was elected in 2024 as the District 1 Commissioner following his dismissal from the city of Senoia as assistant City Manager. Fisher, along with City Manager Harold Simmons, had been dismissed by the Senoia City Council following reports that over $176,000 had been paid to Simmons inappropriately over a six-year period. Fisher and former Mayor William Pearman were alleged to have colluded with Simmons on the payments. The city has filed a formal complaint against the three men in Coweta County Superior Court, a claim which their attorney has stated as “baseless.”
Fisher said he strongly disputed the claims but he expects the matter to be resolved through the legal process.
In a published interview, Fisher said he did not think his work for Meriwether County would be a conflict of interest with his service as a Coweta County Commissioner. He said the work would be almost identical to what he did in Senoia, except for the number of employees and departments.
