Students at Mountain View Elementary School near Manchester were remote learning for two days last week after an influenza outbreak among students.
According to information from the Georgia Department of Public Health, the school was advised to close “until further notice” due to the outbreak. The DPH said that the flu was causing what it called a “serious health impact” and recommended that children stay home, avoiding large group gatherings.
Superintendent Dr. Robert A. Griffin said the school was closed Tuesday and Wednesday and the students went to remote learning status while the building underwent deep cleaning, and Griffin added that the situation was being monitored.
Students returned to school last Thursday, just in time for the beginning of the Christmas holiday on Friday.
