Golf Tournament to Honor George Bailey

Hogansville resident George Bailey will be honored during the 2025 23rd Highland Golf Classic Tournament scheduled for Apr. 24 at Highland Country Club in LaGrange.
Bailey is the recipient of a new heart, which he received four months ago.
The Heart of West Georgia (HOWG), is a registered 501 (c) (3) dedicated to battling heart disease and holds an annual golf tournament to raise funds for heart patients. This year, Bailey is the tournament honoree.
The mission of HOWG, is to educated the community and provide life-saving resources, such as defibrillators to local businesses and organizations and the funds raised by the gold tournament are used to support the effort. The HOWG also uses the funds to make donations to Troup Cares, WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, Emory Clark-Holder Clinic, nursing programs and more.
Bailey, this year’s honoree, is a Gulf War veteran, a former Hogansville council member, past chairman of the LaGrange-Troup Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Rotary Club and has been a pastor for 25 years serving as chaplain for the Hogansville Police Department and the American Legion Post 152.
Now he has a new vision. After beginning his battle with his heart in 2023, Bailey understands how challenging and tough heart problems can be. He is working to raise awareness and educate people about heart health.
