The city of Greenville has appointed a new attorney following an in-person interview with Attorney Deana Holiday-Ingram on February 24. A comprehensive evaluation comparing qualifications, experience, interview performance, and cost was conducted and included in the council’s package, accompanied by a recommendation memorandum. The recommendation to appoint was subsequently made.
It was recommended to appoint Holiday-Ingram as City Attorney at a rate of $225 per hour, given her municipal legal experience, prior service as a city council member, and eight years of experience as mayor, with the Council confirming processing all applications and concurring with the recommendation to hire Holiday-Ingram.
The Greenville Downtown Development Authority is requesting a complimentary water connection and exemption from monthly building fees for the office located at 229/213 South Depot, considering its minimal indoor water usage during monthly meetings. A water supply is necessary for the public restroom during these meetings, which previously utilized a 5-gallon bucket for flushing purposes. Water is essential for irrigating newly planted trees and sod, thereby protecting recent streetscape investments.
The council occupies office space rent-free, shared with two organizations, and is required to maintain official records, currently stored privately, for the annual city audit. Consequently, clarification on budget, costs, insurance, and storage is requested prior to the final vote. A motion to enable water has been proposed, and reportedly, power and insurance matters have been addressed.
