Hogansville and the Troup Commissioners have agreed to match the funds on an equal share of $500,000 each.
Holland Ware Park wil be located at the former McGee Field near the Hogansville senior center. The location has a baseball field that has not been used for some time. According to Architect Skip Smith, because the field is already there it will help lower prep costs for the park because it will require less grading and moving of dirt.
Plans for the park include a soccer practice field, dog park, playground and a community garden. Smith told the board the soccer field could be used for other sports such as football.
He also told the board the park is expected to have add-ons that would include a covered pavilion, rest rooms, a small amphitheater and skate park.
The Board of Commissioners approved accepting bids for the park and will open the bids on May 22.
Construction of the park is expected to begin after the July 4 holiday this year and be completed by May 2026.
