Man Shot in Road Rage Incident Near Hogansville
Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an apparent road rage incident Sunday morning on Interstate 85 near Hogansville that left a man injured.

Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an apparent road rage incident Sunday morning on Interstate 85 near Hogansville that left a man injured.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened near the 21-mile marker on I-85. Deputies said they were dispatched to the area at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and on arrival they discovered a vehicle parked on the side of the Interstate. Inside the vehicle was a 56-year-old man who was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head near his eye.
The victim was transported to a Columbus-area hospital for treatment. Investigators interviewed the victim, who told them that an unknown man driving a silver Hyundai or Kia SUV had reportedly cut the victim off in traffic several times while moving southbound on the Interstate. The suspect then allegedly fired several shots at the victim’s car, hitting the victim once in the head near his eye. Deputies said the unidentified suspect then continued southward, turning onto Interstate 185.
At press deadline, the suspect has not been identified or located. Information on the victim’s injuries and condition was also not available.
