Meriwether Superior Court Sees Postponement of Cases

The murder cases of Brandon Smith and Jordan Alvin Simon were rescheduled during Meriwether Superior Court on Monday.
Among the cases on the calendar was Qua’vion Cooper, a former Manchester High football standout. Cooper is charged with malice murder in the death of Brandon Smith, also a Manchester High football player. Smith was shot and killed on Dec. 7, 2023 and found on Dec. 10 near his home on Third Avenue in Manchester.

The murder cases of Brandon Smith and Jordan Alvin Simon were rescheduled during Meriwether Superior Court on Monday.
Among the cases on the calendar was Qua’vion Cooper, a former Manchester High football standout. Cooper is charged with malice murder in the death of Brandon Smith, also a Manchester High football player. Smith was shot and killed on Dec. 7, 2023 and found on Dec. 10 near his home on Third Avenue in Manchester.
According to police reports at the time of Cooper’s arrest, it was determined that Cooper aided and abetted A’darious Williams, who shot and killed Smith, following an argument.
Williams pleaded guilty on May 6, 2025 to malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and weapons possession charges. He was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
Cooper’s case was postponed until May 4.
Also the murder case of of Jordan Alvin Simon, 14, who was found dead off Rocky Mount Road near Luthersville on Sept. 25, 2024, was rescheduled until May 4 as well.
Three defendants – Thaddeus Stokes, Jamarion Mondrez Ford and Maurice Jamarcus Malone – will stand trial in the case.
Several other cases of interest were rescheduled.
