MHS Blue Devils Fall to Hardaway, Trion

The Manchester High Blue Devils suffered two losses last week and are now 1-11-1 overall and 0-3 in region play.
MHS at Hardaway
On Monday, Mar. 17, the Blue Devils traveled to Columbus to play the Hardaway Hawks and were defeated by a score of 13-2.
The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but the Blue Devils battled back in the top of the second to tie the score at 2-2.
The Hawks rebounded in the bottom of the inning pushing five runs across the plate to take a 7-2 lead and then added six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn a 13-2 victory.
Senior Mandravious Parham pitched one-third of an inning and faced four batters. Parham allowed three runs (two earned) but did not allow a hit and issued two walks.
Senior Kaleb Gay pitched one inning and allowed four (two earned) runs off one hit, issued one walk and recorded two strikeouts while facing eight batters.
Sophomore Gavin Garrett pitched three and a third innings and allowed six runs (no earned runs) off two hits, issued three walks and recorded three strikeouts.
The Blue Devils had three hits in the game. Garrett was 1 for 3 with a run scored; sophomore Jayden Hodo was 1 for 2 with a RBI and a stolen base; senior Christian Whitaker was 1 for 3 and Parham was 1 for 2.

MHS at Trion
On Friday, Mar. 21, the Blue Devils traveled to Trion to play the Trion High Bulldogs in a region game and were defeated by a score of 11-0.
The Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, two in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth to earn the win.
Garrett pitched two innings for Manchester and allowed five runs off one hit, issued three walks, recorded one strikeout and faced 12 batters. Whitaker also pitched two innings and allowed six runs (four earned) off seven hits, issued one walk, recorded three strikeouts and faced 15 batters.
Gay got the lone hit for Manchester going 1 for 2 at the plate.

Upcoming Games
On Tuesday, Mar. 25, the Blue Devils traveled to Mt. Zion to play the Eagles, a region opponent, but results from the game was not available at press time.
On Thursday, Mar. 27 the Blue Devils will host the Mt. Zion Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
After the Mar. 27 game, the Blue Devils will not play again until Apr. 10.
