MHS Lady Blue Devils Fall in Five Games
Games have been tough lately for the Manchester High Lady Blue Devils and the team lost five games recently.
Mt. Zion 13 – MHS 2
The Lady Blue Devils hosted the Mt. Zion Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Sept. 16 and were defeated by a score of 13-2.
Mt. Zion led by a score of 8-0 after scoring five runs in the top of the first inning, two in the second and one in the third before the Lady Blue Devils cut into the lead.
In the bottom of the third inning Manchester pushed two runners across the plate to cut the Lady Eagle’s lead to 8-2.
However, the Lady Eagles scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning and held the Lady Blue Devils scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take a 13-2 victory.

The Lady Blue Devils hosted the Mt. Zion Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Sept. 16 and were defeated by a score of 13-2.
Mt. Zion led by a score of 8-0 after scoring five runs in the top of the first inning, two in the second and one in the third before the Lady Blue Devils cut into the lead.
In the bottom of the third inning Manchester pushed two runners across the plate to cut the Lady Eagle’s lead to 8-2.
However, the Lady Eagles scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning and held the Lady Blue Devils scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take a 13-2 victory.
Junior Izabella Aguilar pitched four and a third innings in the game and faced 34 batters, allowed 13 runs (one earned) off 10 hits, issued three walks and recorded two strikeouts. Freshman Ca’Monee Mitchell pitched two-thirds of an inning and faced three batter issued one walk and recorded a strikeout.
Aguilar was strong at the plate as well for the Lady Blue Devils going 2 for 2 with a double, a triple, scored a run; freshman Quaniyah Bunkley was 1 for 3; senior Maddie McInvale was 1 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored and freshman Jamaria Sheffield was 1 for 2 at the plate.

Mt. Zion 16 – MHS 0
The Lady Blue Devils were defeated by the Lady Eagles again on Thursday, Sept. 18 in Mt. Zion by a score of 16-0.
The Lady Eagles scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and eight runs in the second inning while holding the Lady Angels scoreless to end the game in three innings by a score of 16-0.
Sheffield pitched one inning and allowed 16 runs (13 earned) off seen hits and issued seven walks. Mitchell also pitched one inning and allowed one hit and did not give up a run.
The Lady Blue Devils did not get a hit in the game.

Trion 12 – MHS 1
The Lady Blue Devils hosted the Trion Lady Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 20 and were defeated in game one by a score of 12-1.
The Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the first inning, added two in the second and five in the fourth to take a 11-0 lead.
The Lady Blue Devils battled back to score a run in the bottom of the fourth inning but the Lady Bulldogs ended the game by scoring a run in the top of the fifth to make the score 12-1 and end the game on the 10-run rule.
Mitchell pitched four and two-thirds innings in the game and allowed eight runs (five earned) off six hits, issued five walks and recorded two strikeouts. Junior Addison Painter pitched a third of an inning and allowed four runs (three earned) off no hits and issued two walks.
McInvale was 1 for 2 at the plate for the Lady Devils with a double and a RBI. Freshman Arabella Norman was 1 for 2. Aguilar scored the lone run for Manchester.

Trion 17 – MHS 0
The Lady Blue Devils dropped game two of the doubleheader to the Lady Bulldogs by a score of 17-0.
Trion scored five runs in the top of the first inning, added two in the second, six in the third and four in the fourth to end the game in four innings.
Aguilar pitched three and a third innings and allowed 12 runs (one earned) off 10 hits, issued three walks and recorded a strikeout and Mitchell pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed five runs (one earned) off one hits and issued two walks.
Sophomore Ajah Ellison, Bunkley, junior Deistiny Busby and McInvale all had a hit each for Manchester.

Shaw 16 – MHS 5
On Monday, Sept. 22 the team hosted the Shaw High Lady Raiders and were defeated by a score of 16-5.
The Lady Devils took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but the Lady Raiders answer with six runs in the top of the second and three in the top of the third to make the score 9-1.
The Lady Devils battled back in the bottom of the third inning and pushed four runs across the plate to cut the Shaw lead to 9-5.
The Lady Raiders then scored a run in the top of the fifth and six runs in the top of the six to take a 16-5 lead and held the Lady Devils scoreless in the bottom of the inning to end the game.
Aguilar pitched all six innings for Manchester and allowed 16 runs (four earned) off eight hits, issued four walks and recorded three strikeouts. She was also 1 for 3 at the plate with a double and scored a run.
Ellison went 1 for 2 at the plate for Manchester with a RBI; freshman Armonie Cooper was 1 for 2 with a run scored; Painter was 1 for 2 with a RBI and sophomore Layla Kidd was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. McInvale had three stolen bases and Mitchell had one stolen base.

Upcoming Games
Today, Thursday, Sept. 25, the Lady Blue Devils will host the St. Anne-Pacelli Lady Vikings at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1 the team will travel to Fairburn to play the Creekside Lady Seminoles at 5:55 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 2 the team will host the Carver High Lady Tigers at 5 p.m.
The Lady Blue Devils will end regular season play on Monday, Oct. 6 when they will travel to Columbus to play the Kendrick High Lady Cherokees at 5:30 p.m.
