Opposition In Every Race For County Commissioner

Qualifying ended last week for the local races including seats on the Meriwether County Board of Commissioners for the May 19 election and there is opposition in every district race.

Qualifying ended last week for the local races including seats on the Meriwether County Board of Commissioners for the May 19 election and there is opposition in every district race.
Incumbent Republican Gene King will see opposition from Republican candidate Joe Howard in the District 1 commissioner’s race.
Incumbent Republican Emmett Collins will be opposed by Republican David “Doodlum” Ward, Jr. in the rae for District 3 race for commissioner.
Incumbent Republican Adam Worsley will see plenty of opposition in the race for the District 5 commissioner’s seat. Republicans Chris Mac McCombs and Blake Pearson have both qualified in the race as well as Democrat candidate Catarsman “Kojack” Bryant.
The incumbent members of the Board of Education will not see opposition in their respective races.
Incumbent Democrat candidate Willie Andrew Hinton, Jr. has no opposition in his bid for reelection to the District 1 seat.
Incumbent Republican candidate Kay King has no opposition in her bid for reelection to the District 3 seat.
Incumbent Republican Bob M. Patterson has no opposition in his bid for relection to the District 5 seat.
Incumbent Shirlene Lowry, a non-partisan candidate, has qualified for reelection as Chief Magistrate Jude for Meriwether County and also has not opposition.
There are two other candidates who have qualified but their names will not appear on the ballot until the November election.
Incumbent Ryan Johnson qualified to seek reelection to the Roosevelt Soil and Water District board and his name will appear on the November ballot.
Incumbent Republican Levi Fletcher, who was appointed to replace Brad Smith as the District 4 representative, has qualified to the seat and will be on the November ballot.
