On Tuesday, Apr. 1, the Troup County Board of Commissioners approved an annexation request for the City of Hogansville, provided details of maintenance for Bass Cross Road can be worked out.
Hogansville requested the annexation for a development by Chisel Mill housing development. Chisel Mill requested Hogansville annex approximately 21.17 acres on one side of Bass Cross Road currently located in the unincorporated area of Troup County.
At the present time, the parcels on the property are zoned single family medium density (SF-MD). Also it has been requested to rezone the property as corridor medium density residential (CR-MR).
Commissioner Morris Jones raised the question concerning the maintenance of the road. County Engineer James Emory pointed out that with Hogansville only annexing one side of the road the county would still be responsible for road maintenance. He also pointed out that Hogansville has jurisdiction of the road all the way down to Grace Church.
Jones suggested the city annex both sides of the road.
Eventually, the board approved the annexation with a request that the road maintenance issue be resolved.
