Willis Pleas in Gang Related Case
Jamal D. Willis entered a guilty plea in Meriwether County Superior Court on Tuesday, Apr. 21 in a case law enforcement and courts considered a violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and other charges.
Willis was among several defendants charged in a case that dates back to 2023.
Quintravious Deshon Sheffield had already pled in the case and was sentenced to 20 years with eight to serve.
Jamal D. Willis entered a guilty plea in Meriwether County Superior Court on Tuesday, Apr. 21 in a case law enforcement and courts considered a violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and other charges.
Willis was among several defendants charged in a case that dates back to 2023.
Quintravious Deshon Sheffield had already pled in the case and was sentenced to 20 years with eight to serve.
Willis entered a guilty plea to a charge of affray and was sentenced to 12 months to run concurrent with his other sentences, received 10 years to serve on the charge of violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act, 10 years to serve on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, 10 years to serve on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and five years probation on a charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Overall Willis was sentenced to a total of 30 years with 10 years to serve with his cases running concurrent.
Others have been charged in the incident but have not had their day in court as of yet.
The charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute occurred on or about June 2, 2023. According to the indictment, Willis did unlawfully possess marijuana with the intent to distribute.
As for the gang related charges, the indictment on Willis notes that on May 11, 2023 he did engage in a fight at Greenville High School with other individuals, a public place, and disturbed the public tranquility contrary to the laws of Georgia.
The indictment stated that Willis associated with OTB (Only the Bros), criminal street gangs, and unlawfully participated in criminal gang activity through the commission of the offense of affray by engaging in the fight.
The indictment notes that also on May 11, 2023, Willis made an assault upon another person and the person was in fear of receiving serious bodily harm.
